This Is Our Story

Vicki Brewer

Vicki Brewer, a native of Little Rock, Arkansas, is a registered nurse, U.S. Army veteran, and now, a celebrated culinary entrepreneur. With a deep passion for both nursing and cooking, Vicki’s journey has always revolved around caring for others—whether through healthcare or nourishing meals.

Her career began at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center, where she worked in the kitchen while earning her nursing degree. For 30 years, Vicki nurtured and cared for patients before retiring in 2013 and moving to Texas to be closer to family. Her love for cooking, inspired by her mother Vertis McKenzie, led her to take a bold step in April 2017 by founding MicKenzie's Kitchen and Catering, named in her mother’s honor.

Although Vicki’s restaurant saw great success, she eventually made the difficult decision to close it. However, through a serendipitous misdial, she reconnected with a loyal customer, Renee Cook, and together with Shonda Craig, they co-founded Sister Girls Kitchen. This new venture blends Vicki's nurturing care ethos from her nursing background with her culinary expertise, providing customers not only with delicious, home-cooked meals but also a warm and inviting dining experience.

At Sister Girls Kitchen, Vicki and her team continue to bring people together, offering food that’s made with love and served with heart.
